Role of Rapid Multiplex PCR to Optimize Medical Decision-Making

$0.00

An approach to the efficient evaluation of select summertime infectious disease complaints (patient interview, exam, and medical decision-making) in the busy Urgent Care setting.

Full Description

Infectious disease complaints represent 15-20% of visits to practitioners or well over 100 million visits per year in the U.S. A large number of these visits are associated with a subsequent prescription with rates of overprescribing of antibiotics at approximately 50% for respiratory conditions and >25% for other syndromes. Patterns of infectious syndromes have seasonal features with cases of sexually transmitted disease, urinary tract and wound infections more prominent during summer months. In this webinar, we will present common case scenarios, share targeted insights on the epidemiology of these syndromes, and illustrate how multiplex PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) with next-morning results can enhance diagnostic precision, treatment accuracy, and patient satisfaction
