Full Description

Telemedicine is still a young discipline and EBM, standards and practice patterns are evolving quickly. The evolution of TM is dependent on regulatory changes, reimbursement, platform/equipment advances as well as its ability to integrate into traditional medical practices. Once the gold standard was to prove operational and clinical results equivalent to live office visits. This is no longer the case. Telemedicine due to its reach and expediency is producing superior results in certain specialties and access where there was none in other disciplines. This short presentation will highlight some of most significant regulatory changes in 2018 which will set the stage for the future. We will then review a few of the high-profile clinical articles and white papers that defined the year and are indicative of the current state of Telemedicine from both clinical outcomes and operational models. An educational grant for this session was provided by GlobalMed.
