Over 300,000 sport and recreational concussions present to emergency rooms and urgent care centers each year. This number is growing rapidly with increasing public awareness. Recent CDC estimates indicate the occurrence of 2.5M concussions each year in high school athletes alone. This course will provide the state-of-the-science overview of concussion injury, including epidemiology, pathophysiology, consequences, diagnosis and management. Attendees will learn the most current guidelines in concussion diagnosis, physical exam, ancillary testing, and treatment options.
