Missed Until Asked: Saving Lives in the Postpartum Year | New Podcast Episode Released

In this episode, we’re joined by Martha Williams, PA-C, and Dr. Jenna White, an emergency medicine and EMS physician, to discuss the critical role Urgent Care clinicians play in recognizing pregnancy-related and postpartum emergencies. Together, they explore how seemingly vague or low-acuity symptoms, such as shortness of breath, facial swelling, or mildly elevated blood pressure, can signal serious, life‑threatening conditions in pregnant and postpartum patients.

The conversation highlights practical strategies clinicians can implement immediately, including better history-taking, vital sign interpretation and the use of ACOG-developed algorithms to guide timely escalation of care. This episode offers actionable insights to help Urgent Care teams improve risk stratification, strengthen handoffs to the emergency department and ultimately save lives.
