Urgent Care Foundation
The Urgent Care Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit entity, and is the singular, nationally-recognized entity devoted to increasing Urgent Care viability through research, educational development, and humanitarian healthcare efforts.

In 2022, we launched new initiatives, reignited our Antibiotic Stewardship program with our first multi-year government contract and continued to develop our leadership and clinical programs.

We mobilized volunteers and enrolled over 50 Urgent Care centers in our Antibiotic Stewardship program,  and we committed to learning about and examining the organization’s internal diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

Learn all about what we did in 2022 and our plans for 2023.

History

The Urgent Care Foundation had its origins in the desire to expand ongoing Fellowship Programs currently administered by the Urgent Care Association (UCA). In the spring of 2009, a group of thought leaders in the Urgent Care field met to discuss many of the challenges facing the Urgent Care industry. The group decided that a separate entity was needed to address two of the most serious issues:

  • Support for training the next generation of physicians and physician leaders in Urgent Care medicine.
  • Support for research activities in the field of Urgent Care medicine.

The Urgent Care Foundation was created to accomplish this and incorporated in 2011. Trustees were recruited based on their credentials and expertise in the field, as well as their vision for the future success of the role of Urgent Care Medicine as an essential part of the healthcare landscape. The Urgent Care Foundation received its 501(c)3 approval from the Internal Revenue Service on August 17, 2012.
