Urgent Care is Right Level Care | May is Urgent Care Awareness Month

Urgent Care plays a critical role in today’s healthcare system by caring for patients who need prompt attention without requiring emergency services.
With trained clinicians and the ability to treat a wide range of conditions, Urgent Care offers an effective, often more cost efficient option while helping relieve unnecessary strain on emergency departments. It’s care that fits the moment and supports the system as a whole.

And consider supporting the Urgent Care Foundation (UCF), which invests in education, workforce development and leadership initiatives that strengthen Urgent Care today and help advance the future of the field.

Together, we can uplift the workforce that delivers everyday healthcare and ensure Urgent Care continues to thrive for the communities it serves.

New Resources Available to Urgent Care Clinicians and Operators

The Clinical Response Committee (CRC) recently addressed its recommendations for Emergency Kits that align with typical emergent presentations to Urgent Care centers.  The kit recommendations complement the CRC’s recommended UC formulary, published earlier this year.

These are free resources that allow your organization to compare its current inventory of medications and emergency response supplies with those established by a committee of clinician peers. The CRC is always working to bring relevant and helpful resources to our members.  Please contact cucm@urgentcareassociation.org with other suggestions.

Solutions.Webinar | Women and Urinary Tract Infections: Diagnosis, Testing, and Treatment in Urgent Care - Sponsored by HealthTrack

Thursday, May 28 | 11:00 a.m. CT

This session focuses on the evaluation and management of UTIs in women, highlighting common diagnostic pitfalls, the role of molecular and culture-based testing, recurrent and complicated infections, and patient-centered treatment decisions.

Emphasis is placed on accuracy, antimicrobial stewardship, and improving outcomes in a high-volume urgent care population.

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the prevalence of UTIs in women, the sequelae of untreated UTIs (e.g., recurrent UTIs, pyelonephritis), and the risk factors that predispose patients to these sequelae events.
  • Describe the differences in methodology, diagnostic performance, and clinical applicability between molecular testing and standard urine culture for urinary tract infections (UTIs).
  • Apply diagnostic and antibiotic stewardship principles to select appropriate testing strategies for UTI diagnosis in the women’s health space.
