UCA's Annual Strategic Planning

Furthering the Work of the Association

Urgent Care Association employees met for three days in Miami to put in the effort and collaboration to solidify projects and plans for the next year and a half of UCA.

The 2025-2026 Strategic Plan, which will detail these plans, will be published later this year.

Key Takeaways from The Assembly 2024

Delegates Council, Clinical Consortium and Strategic Advisory Group

Three key groups met in Miami last week to strategize for the future of Urgent Care in three district ways: operations, medicine and Advocacy. Official plans are forthcoming, but key takeaways include:

Delegates Council

Great collaboration and vendor input took place with next steps involving groundwork on building up the new Delegates Council. The group, consisting of UCA members from Urgent Care organizations with 5-30 centers focused on grassroots Advocacy, identified leaders in new chapter areas.

Clinical Consortium

Three specific initiatives and deliverables were determined for 2024-2025, from the clinical thought leaders representing CUCM membership and Urgent Care educational leaders. Future projects include:

  • Piloting a burnout program specific to clinicians to improve clinician success
  • Determining standard Urgent Care clinical care quality metrics
  • Creating a comprehensive Urgent Care waste management plan focused on minimizing environmental impact

Strategic Advisory Group

Consisting of CEOs from organizations of 30 or more centers, the group talked about planning for continued growth strategically, to ensure all Urgent Care organizations have the room to succeed.

New Advocacy Podcast

Featuring: McDermott+ Lobbyist Eric Zimmerman and UCA Advocacy Manager Kristin Rastatter

UCA’s Advocacy efforts recently achieved a CMS victory for Urgent Care: inclusion of Urgent Care in the 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. In this episode, Eric and Kristin break down the significance of what that means, why it’s important, what happens next and when those efforts might directly impact Urgent Care centers.

The US 2022-2023 Tripledemic (SARS-CoV-2, Flu, and RSV) was an incredibly challenging time for both patients and the healthcare system. Dr. Amesh Adalja, an infectious disease physician and Senior Scholar at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Health Security, will discuss the value of rapid antigen testing and several lessons learned from last year’s Tripledemic. As we progress towards the 2024-2025 respiratory season, Urgent Care centers across the industry need to be prepared to address SARS-CoV-2, Flu, and RSV.
