Chief Medical Officer
Doctors Care/Novant Health Urgent Cares
Organization Description:
Doctors Care, now owned by Novant Health, opened in 1981 as the first minor emergency medical center in Columbia, S.C., offering urgent and family care services with flexible evening and weekend hours. Today, we have grown to a network of more than 50 locations across South Carolina, providing timely, convenient health care services. Our team has grown to include 1,100 dedicated health care professionals. We have nearly 200 providers focused on urgent care, family care, occupational medicine, and employee wellness. And we serve more than 2,000 employers regionally through our Occupational Medicine services. All Doctors Care/Novant Health Urgent Care facilities have achieved the prestigious designation of accredited Urgent Care Clinics. The Urgent Care Association of America, a group representing more than 3,200 medical professionals, granted Doctors Care the designation after a stringent review of each of our clinics in South Carolina. The designation assures patients that they can turn to Doctors Care to treat a range of illnesses and injuries and that they can find services such as X-rays and laboratory work on site. This places our clinics among only a fraction of such facilities in the nation to be recognized for the range and quality of services offered.

Vision for the Future of Urgent Care and Core Purpose for UCA for the next 3-5 Years:
I see the future of urgent care as one of innovation, accessibility, and excellence. Over the next 3-5 years, I envision a dynamic urgent care landscape where cutting-edge technology, including artificial intelligence, enhances operational efficiency, optimizes clinical decision-making, and improves patient outcomes. Urgent care centers will serve as the front line of healthcare, seamlessly integrating AI-driven tools to streamline workflows, reduce wait times, and support clinicians in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. At the heart of this transformation lies a commitment to leadership development and mentorship. The Urgent Care Association will play a pivotal role in cultivating the next generation of urgent care leaders by providing the education, resources, and professional networks essential for success. Through mentorship programs and leadership training, we will empower emerging professionals to drive innovation, enhance patient-centered care, and shape the future of the industry. By embracing technology, fostering leadership, and championing high standards of care, the Urgent Care Association will shape the future of urgent care to be more efficient, patient-focused, and resilient in meeting the healthcare needs of our communities.
Brief Biography:
With over 20 years of experience in family medicine and urgent care, I am the Chief Medical Officer at Doctors Care of SC (now Novant Health Urgent Cares), a network of over 50 urgent care centers across the state. I have an Executive MBA from the Darla Moore School of Business, and I am passionate about healthcare management, quality improvement, and patient satisfaction. I oversee the clinical and administrative operations of the organization, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and excellence in delivering accessible and affordable care to our communities. I also lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, such as expanding telehealth services, enhancing patient engagement, and strengthening partnerships with local health systems. I have a proven track record of improving clinical outcomes, reducing costs, and increasing revenue, thanks to my skills in data analysis, problem-solving, and communication. As urgent care is often the gateway to healthcare system, I am dedicated to supporting urgent care clinicians with education, advocacy, and best practices, enhancing the operational efficiency pf urgent care clinics through the implementation of technology-driven solutions, and ensuring high-quality, accessible care is available to all patients.
Because I am committed to advancing the practice of urgent care medicine by promoting innovation, operational excellence, and leadership development I would love to lend my talents, skills, and experience to the UCA board to continue the same initiatives on a national level.
