​Difficult patients frequently come to urgent care for evaluation and treatment. These patients and family members may not only infuriate staff but also lead to burnout and if not dealt with correctly, can lead to violence and violence-related injuries. There are many different types of difficult individuals with various dysfunctional behaviors, such as the angry, non-compliant or demanding patient. Some can exhibit abusive behavior and violent outbursts. This course will not only assist in the understanding of these patients and means to cope with these patients but also explore the consequences to providers.
