The Urgent Care Foundation is pleased to announce Luis (Lou) de la Prida, MBA (Managing Partner, The NYBB Group), as its new Board President. He succeeds Steve Sellars, MBA (CEO Premier Health), who served as UCF President for five years and served on UCA board from 2011 to 2017. The Foundation cannot thank Sellars enough for his years of dedicated service to the Foundation and the Urgent Care healthcare community; he will continue to serve on the board as Immediate Past President.
“It’s been a privilege to serve on the UCA and UCF boards and committees and to work alongside many gifted individuals, including talented staff members,” Sellars said. “Thanks to the hard work of many, I believe the Foundation is well-positioned to fulfill its mandate to fund Urgent Care research, programs, and strategic initiatives. I’m incredibly proud of the Urgent Care advocacy work we’ve done, as well as our annual Foundation Celebration. The Celebration has played a vital role in helping the UCA raise funds to ensure Urgent Care operators have a voice whenever healthcare is being discussed at the policy level. I’ve gotten to know Lou de la Prida well over the last several years and I’m very excited about his background and experience. Under Lou’s leadership and with the passion of the current board, the Foundation is in great hands. Now, more than ever, I want to encourage all UCA members to get involved or stay involved in UCA and UCF. It’s been one of the best experiences of my professional life and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
De la Prida will continue to lead the Board’s work to strengthen financial support in pursuit of the Foundation’s mission to increase viability through research, educational development, and humanitarian healthcare efforts.
“I first heard about UCA when I was COO of a medical group on Long Island, NY,” de la Prida said. “That led me to exhibit and attend the NERUCA Conference in 2016. It was there that I met Pam Sullivan and Laurel Stoimenoff (who was then CEO) of UCA. I asked if they needed volunteers and Laurel forwarded my name to UCA.
“For me, it was one of the best things that could have happened to me. UCA has given me a chance to learn from and interact with incredibly knowledgeable and committed people. I am honored to succeed Steve Sellers, whom I greatly admire and respect. I first met Steve at the UCA’s Buy, Sell, Partner Summit, which he chaired, and I emceed and spoke at. I am grateful for his advice, counsel, and friendship throughout the years. ”
We look forward to seeing what Lou accomplishes in the new role. Welcome aboard!
“I am looking forward to working with the wonderful team at UCF and UCA,” de la Prida said.
