Health Equity Awareness

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Coming off of the second annual Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Health Equity Conference (May 29-30), it’s important to remember the key role Urgent Care centers play in addressing health disparities in the communities we serve. Conference topics — ones to consider for your organization — include replicable outreach strategies to reduce disparities, providing culturally and linguistically appropriate service and ensuring access to patients with disabilities. The UCA Commission on Diversity is committed to identifying best practices, standards and addressing disparities in access and treatment for Urgent Care.

Support for Certificate of Added Qualification in Urgent Care Medicine Requested

June 15 Letter Submission Deadline

Representatives from the Urgent Care Association (UCA) and College of Urgent Care Medicine (CUCM) recently met with the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) to examine prospects for a potential a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Urgent Care Medicine.

“The CAQ is a voluntary credential that Board Certified PAs can earn to show your advanced expertise in your specialty,” the NCCPA states. “Earning a CAQ shows your employers that you are committed to your specialty. It demonstrates your dedication and passion for health care and the well-being of your patients.”

The CAQ gets us one step closer to establishing Urgent Care as a medical specialty; the NCCPA has asked for us to gather support from organizations and individuals.

Please attach your letterhead and insert comments to the template. Once completed, you can either send directly to the NCCPA (contact information found in the template) or return to  by June 15.

We look forward to your continued support and please spread the word to your clinical colleagues!
