Lisa Shakun, PA-C, MBA, FCUCM is the College’s Newest Fellow

The College of Urgent Care Medicine is pleased to announce its newest Fellow.  Lisa Shakun, PA-C, MBA has just earned the distinction of Fellow in the College of Urgent Care Medicine (FCUCM).  Lisa has been with Yale New Haven Health Urgent Care (formerly Physician One Urgent Care) in Brookfield, CT since 2020, ascending to the role of Medical Director in 2024 where Jeanne Kenkare, DO, FCUCM and President of Yale New Haven Health UC, wrote, “In this capacity, she oversees more than 55 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and has been responsible for managing their quality, compliance, productivity and retention”. Lisa will also be a co-presenter on clinician engagement at the upcoming Urgent Care Convention in Dallas, TX.

Lisa received her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Athletic Training from the University of New Hampshire and her MS in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Alabama at Birmingham Surgical Physician Assistant Program.  She subsequently attained an MBA from Quinnipiac University.  Congratulations Lisa!

All Fellows and CUCM Accredited Fellowship Programs will be recognized this month at The Urgent Care Convention—get your photo taken by your name at the fellowship wall of fame located at UC Central.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Recognize the long-term burden of uncontrolled asthma
  • Analyze the efficacy of biologics in reducing asthma exacerbations in patients with moderate to severe asthma
  • Evaluate the relationship between asthma phenotypes and disease severity to guide personalized treatment recommendations
  • Assess asthma severity to support appropriate referral
  • Identify patients who could benefit from biologic therapy for moderate to severe asthma.
