INFLUENZA VACCINATION AFTER MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION: A RANDOMIZED, DOUBLE-BLIND, PLACEBO-CONTROLLED, MULTICENTER TRIAL
Observational and small randomized studies suggest that influenza vaccination early after an MI or in high-risk coronary heart disease resulted in a lower risk of a composite of all-cause death, MI, or stent thrombosis, as well as a lower risk of all-cause death and cardiovascular death at 12 months compared with placebo.

NEW MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES OFFER HOPE FOR PREVENTING AND TREATING CORONAVIRUS INFECTIONS
Humans face threats from coronaviruses. Two teams report identification of naturally occurring broadly neutralizing antibodies. The antibodies neutralized all tested strains of human and animal coronaviruses in laboratory cultures and offered very strong protection. Neither report describes testing of the antibodies against the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2, presumably because the studies were conducted before the Delta variant emerged.

VARIATIONS IN PROCESSES OF CARE AND OUTCOMES FOR HOSPITALIZED GENERAL MEDICINE PATIENTS TREATED BY FEMALE VS MALE PHYSICIANS
Patients who were treated by female physicians had a lower in hospital rate than patients who were treated by male physicians. The in-hospital mortality rate was 4.8% among patients who were cared for by women and 5.2% among those who were cared for by men.

ANTIPSYCHOTICS TIED TO INCREASED BREAST CANCER RISK
Use of antipsychotics that increase prolactin levels is significantly associated with an increased risk for breast cancer in women with schizophrenia, new research suggests.
Results showed that long-term exposure to prolactin-increasing antipsychotics was associated with a 56% increased risk of developing breast cancer in comparison with exposure of short duration. Full Access: Medscape
